SEDIMENT
AND EROSION CONTROL
Sediment and Erosion control is a hot environmental topic in the
construction industry. Storm water run off is a natural cycle but
the growth of our communities is compromising the quality of our
waterways. Federal, provincial and municipal governments are working
together to protect the environment by demanding developers be accountable
for their urbanization activities.
While erosion and sedimentation is a natural process as well,
the developing of lands through stripping and grading increases
the erosion rate by 200 to 400 percent. There are many sources of
information to find the Best Management Practice (BMP) of erosion
and sediment controls. The City of Calgary has this information
in their website.
